Diet counselling and planning: Balanced diet is key to health because diet plays vital role for maintaining good health during health and disease conditions.  Balanced diet provided according to the requirement and health or disease conditions not only prevent malnutrition among the pregnant and lactating mothers, children and others but is also a vital factor of chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, kidney diseases, chronic liver disease and others.

For maintenance of health and reduction of complications during diseases, we offer scientific, evidence based diet counselling and planning different life stages and diseases as below and this process goes with the proper assessment of nutritional status of client. Diets are planned considering the likes and dislikes, socioeconomic conditions and availability of foods in the community of the client. Not only the diet plan is made but proper counselling is provided to the client and his/her family members such as parents of child for implementation of plan.

  • Pregnancy and Lactation

Improper diet and nutrition during pregnancy may lead to improper growth of foetus while mother may get anaemic and other complications may be seen. Similarly, during lactation extra amount of nutrients and energy is required for mother to produce milk.

  • Infants and children

Infancy is the period of most rapid physical and mental growth. Malnutrition during this period causes impairment in growth and has lifelong effects.  Growing children may not get proper nutrition if parents are unable to provide proper guidance for selection of foods.

  • According to physical activity

Requirement of energy and many nutrients is based on physical activity level of individual. Insufficient nutrient supply may affect the physical activity and may lead to ill health. Nutrient requirements of athletes and heavy workers are different than for normal people so they require proper diet counselling for maintaining good health.

Gaining or losing weight according to physical condition is important to stay healthy. Underweight individuals have higher chance to get infections and diseases. They may have reduced capacity of physical work. Overweight individuals have higher chance of being affected from cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, hypertension, gall bladder diseases and osteoarthritis.

Thus, maintaining healthy weight is important but improper ways of losing or gaining weight leads to health complications. Thus, proper diet planning and counselling is important for preventing the health complications of weight loss or gain.

  • Diabetes

Proper blood glucose level can be maintained if a diabetic remains on proper medical nutrition therapy. This prevents the complications of the disease but it needs proper diet counselling, balanced diet intake and proper physical activity. There are many misconceptions about the consumption of different foods in our society making food section difficult for diabetics. So, we provide proper nutrition knowledge, diet plans that are easier to adhere for the patient so they can live the healthy life.

  • Hypertension and cardiovascular diseases

Hypertension and cardiovascular diseases like coronary heart disease (CHD), stroke, hyperlipidimia, along with other factors like physical activity, smoking, drinking stress, body weight, has relationship with nutrition and improper food intake. Healthy eating plays an important role in reducing the risk of getting chronic kidney disease. overweight, obesity, hypertension are the risk factors of kidney diseases. People with compromised kidney function must adhere to a renal or kidney diet to cut down on the amount of waste in their blood and this needs proper diet planning according to the disease condition.

Healthy liver is important for healthy life since it performs varieties of essential functions like metabolism of nutrients and their storage, break down toxins like alcohol, medications and natural byproducts of metabolism. If you have a liver condition, some special considerations are made in your diet to stay nutritionally well to help to manage your condition and make the liver healthy again.

  • Cancer

Good nutrition is especially important for people with cancer. Eating a variety of foods and well-balanced meals can help you feel better and stay stronger. Eating well during treatment helps to maintain your body weight, improve your strength and energy, decrease the risk of infection and assist your body in healing and recovery from cancer treatments.
